Sauti Sol, one of Africa’s most popular and successful musical groups, has announced a world tour before taking an indefinite hiatus. The tour will kick off in the United States on May 21 in Atlanta and will make stops in Dallas, Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, D.C., Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Paris, London, Bristol, Sheffield, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne, Afro Nation in Portugal, Frankfurt, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver. The tour will conclude on September 3 in Vancouver.
Sauti Sol formed in 2005 and has released six studio albums, including 2015’s “Sol Generation,” which was a critical and commercial success. The group has won numerous awards, including the BET Award for Best International Group in 2015 and the MTV Africa Music Award for Best Group in 2016 and 2017.
In a statement, the band members said that they were “grateful for the love and support” they have received from their fans over the years. “While we take this hiatus to pursue our individual and collective passions, we remain committed to our friendship and our shared businesses,” they said. “The bond between us is unbreakable, and we are excited for what the future holds.”
