Get Ready to Groove to the Rhythms of Africa: The International Africa Festival 2023

The 34th edition of the International Africa Festival, Europe’s largest celebration of African music and culture, is set to take place from May 26th to May 29th, 2023 in the scenic city of Würzburg, Germany. The festival, which has been a staple of the continent’s cultural calendar since its inception in 1989, has attracted over 2.6 million visitors and over 7,500 musicians and artists from across Africa and the Caribbean in previous years.

This year’s festival promises to be even bigger and better than ever before, with an exciting lineup of top African musicians set to take the stage. Some of the headliners include the legendary Malian singer and guitarist, Ali Farka Toure’s son, Vieux Farka Touré, who has been dubbed the “Jimi Hendrix of the Sahara,” with his electrifying guitar riffs and soulful vocals.

Other acts set to perform include Kenya’s Nina Ogot who will present the songs from her new album to visitors of the Africa Festival for the first time, Elida Almeida from Cape Verde, Senegalese band Orchestra Baobab, whose blend of Cuban rhythms and West African melodies has made them one of the most revered bands in the world music scene.

The festival will also feature performances from the likes of Baloji, Blick Bassy, and many other talented African artists.
