Uber Scheduled Rides now in East Africa

Ride-hailing company Uber’s Scheduled Rides are now available in the four major East African cities. The feature which targets riders who want to arrange a pickup in advance is available and running in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kampala and Dar es Salaam.

Riders may now schedule an UberX ride with just a few taps on the app, and arrange a pickup for between 15 minutes to 30 days in advance. Users will also be allowed to cancel the ride at any time before the ride is on the way.

Uber announced the global roll out of Scheduled Rides in June this year.

How it works:

Select uberX and tap “Schedule a Ride.”
Set your pickup date, time, location, and destination.
Confirm the details of your upcoming trip and tap “Schedule uberX.” You can cancel at any time before your ride is on the way.
We’ll send you reminders both 24 hours and 30 minutes in advance of your pickup. You’ll be notified after your ride is on the way, as well as whether surge pricing applies.
