Samsung Electronics has launched its latest design of wearables, a smartwatch model that is inspired by traditional timepieces design, the new model is designed with the latest mobile technology including IP68, water resistance, mobile payments, LTE connectivity and build in GPS.
The Tizen-powered smartwatches-available in two models-were showcased at the IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung) show in Berlin Germany, The watches may bear different designs but retain the same specifications; The GS3 frontier bears a rugged outdoor look fitting into that business or leisure mode, while the GS3 Classic evokes the minimalist elegance of timeless pieces.
“For the first time on the Gear series, the Gear S3 features Corning® Gorilla® Glass SR+, which is specifically designed for wearable devices to provide a tougher, more scratch resistant and crisp display.” The statement from Samsung read.
LTE connection which makes it easier to handle calls and texts without the need for a smartwatch is a big boost to the wearables which mimics the look of a luxury analog watch.
You can also make purchases almost everywhere you can swipe or tap a card with Samsung Pay for Gear S3, Samsung Pay comes with Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and New Field Communication (NFC) support, which means, you can register a credit card and use it to make mobile payments.
All in all the Gear S3 is a more advanced model from the Gear S2 model, packed with even more advanced features; GPS and LTE functionality. Samsung however says they will continue to release updates for the former model users and access to select Gear S3 features.
